My latest customer in Ontario, Canada just received his copy of the Bell 47 book, He replied in an email: "Now I knw what I am doing over the holidays. What a production. WOW!" His father was an early Canadian Army helicopter pilot who learned to fly Bell Model 47s at the Bell Aircraft Ltd training school.

Just last week I sent off an order of The Bell Model 47 Helicopter Story overseas to the Aviation Mega Store in The Netherlands. Overseas customers can purchase their Bell 47 books at the hobby shop. The Aviation Mega Store has been a customer for over seven years.

Watch for a one time special expected in early 2024 for The Bell Model 47 Helicopter book.

Work continues writing weekly on my next detailed and most accurate book on the history of helicopters and other rotary wing aircraft in Canada covering the piston years up to 1966. The following year in 1967 the light turbine Bell 206 Jet Ranger, the Fairchild Hiller FH 1100, and Hughes 500 entered the Canadian helicopter market in a major way. My goal is to have the new book written and completed  with photographs by the end of 2024. Stay tuned over the 2024 year as to new updates. I am always looking for more historical photos and interesting stories.

The feature story for this Fall newsletter covers the early history of the ORIGINAL Canadian Helicopters Ltd. that started up back in 1952 in Toronto Ontario by pioneering Canadian pilot Paul Ostrander and new AME Jack Fleming. Their first operation on an Army mapping project that took place in northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories near Yellowknife with a single Bell 47D helicopter. In 1955 Ostrander and Fleming started up Dominion Helicopters Ltd. Photo at top of page is a Canadian Helicopters Ltd Bell 47B cabin model CF-HDO overhauled during 1953 by Jack Fleming. Fleming took the photo in northern Ontario during a prospecting operation. This was the only Canadian registered Bell 47B that flew in Canada.

Enjoy their story.
